/1 Today I’m on a mission to save as many minority owned businesses in my community as we can.

@FairfaxNAACP is partnering with @VA30DayFund to provide forgivable loans to minority owned business in northern Virginia.

They don’t have to be paid back. https://va30dayfund.com
2/ The businesses need to have between 3 and 30 employees, be minority owned, and be based in Virginia.

The fund is taking applications from ALL small businesses but our partnership is trying to reach the 41 percent of minority owned small businesses in this county.
3/ I’m really excited about this partnership but I want to share how we got here because in March I was feeling a bit defeated by this pandemic.

There were days that I couldn’t see what I could do or how I could help others while stuck inside.
4/ We decided to start small. We raised a little over $1,000 to buy meals from a Black owned restaurant and feed two shifts of hospital staff.

The response was overwhelming and we hit our goal in about a day and half.
5/ We saw from that action that there were so many people willing to help and looking for opportunities. That’s why we jumped at the opportunity to work with the @VA30DayFund and scale up our efforts and help so many more businesses.
6/ Everyday now is challenging but we will get through this and we can help others get through it as well. If you know a minority owned business, tell them to apply.
