Mak pernah mengajar anak2 pelarian Rohingya di Kuantan nih dulu. I taught English and Maths to the little ones then.

Three times a week I go to their little centre at Medan Warisan and be with them for an hour or two.
They are always so happy when volunteers like me come by and drop in to spend time with them. They crave for interaction. Their parents dun talk to them much I suppose sbb sibuk cari duit buat 2-3 kerja.
Medan Warisan ni is just across dr Giant. Blakang Giant tu ada rumah2 setinggan dulu, tempat Rohingya refugees duduk. Some of these kids were born here, but no birth certs or documents bcoz their parents are refugees
When I teach in the morning, we usually have breakfast together first. Mak suka bli bread and milk makan with them.

But I learned they prefer biscuits. Sbb jarang2 dpt bread. They dun like the taste of it.
Mak sempat ngajar for abt a year when the centre was closed down sbb ada NGO Rohingya lain buat pusat pembelajaran yg guna syllabus dari negara mereka. So mak x involved dah.

By then, the kids I taught were already able to read and could converse in simple English
I also had the opportunity to help the Rohingya youths in a small way.

Nampak the 3 computer terminal kat blakang tu? It was donated by BASF Petronas to MNS Pahang. We got 5, we gave the Rohingyas 3.
Diorang memang susah yg benar2 susah. But they appreciate every single bit help yg dihulurkan kpd mereka.

Even if its only your time. U dtg borak2 dgn diorang sekejap pun diorang dah happy giler. Made them feel like human juga, that's all.
I have always been an environmental activist sejak dulu lagi. To be truthful, I dun like working wt people sgt, like @AinieHaziqa and her team, sbb I sedih bila org call/text tgh2 malam bitau lapar dan x ada food.

Pokok, sungai dan bukit, they dun do that.
But with Rohingyas ni memang kak Habsah dr Muslim Aid mintak tolong assist them, so I did. And it was an eye opening experience for me.

I am glad I said yes even if was not my fortè
And I always look back on the times with them as fond memories and it was rewarding and good for me in far more ways that I could have expected.

I grew into a better person because I answered the call to assist them
In many ways they "helped" me to be a better person, better mother to my children. I gave only my time, but I received so many things and blessings in return. Untangible, but real.
