FIRST UP, YOU CAN TURN OFF AN ACCOUNTS RETWEETS. THIS WILL STOP THEIR RETWEETS FROM SHOWING UP ON YOUR TIMELINE IF YOU STILL WANT TO SEE THEIR REGULAR TWEETS. HIT THE THREE DOTS IN THE CORNER OF THEIR PROFILE. TAP TURN OFF RETWEETS. DONE. CONGRATULATIONS.
THE NEXT OF THE FIVE OPTIONS IS MUTING. THIS STOPS ALL TWEETS FROM A USER FROM APPEARING ON YOUR TIMELINE WITHOUT UNFOLLOWING THEM. HIT THE THREE DOTS IN THE CORNER OF THEIR PROFILE. TAP MUTE. THEY ARE MUTED NOW. CONGRATULATIONS.
THE NEXT STEP YOU CAN TAKE IS UNFOLLOWING. THIS WILL STOP YOU FROM BEING COUNTED AS AN ACCOUNT'S FOLLOWER EVEN IF THEY MAY CONTINUE TO FOLLOW YOU. IT'S EASY. JUST GO TO THE ACCOUNT AND TAP THE FOLLOW BUTTON. HIT YES ON THE UNFOLLOW CONFIRMATION POP-UP. CONGRATULATIONS.
IF YOU WANT THEM TO STOP FOLLOWING YOU, YOU CAN USE A SIDE-EFFECT FEATURE CALLED SOFTBLOCKING. THIS FORCES AN ACCOUNT TO UNFOLLOW YOU IF YOU SO DESIRE. VERY USEFUL. HIT THE THREE DOTS ON THEIR PROFILE. TAP BLOCK. TO UNBLOCK AGAIN, TAP THE BLOCKED BUTTON. CONGRATULATIONS.
LASTLY, YOU CAN SIMPLY BLOCK THE ACCOUNT. TAKE STEPS ONE THROUGH THREE OF SOFTBLOCKING, LEAVING OUT THE UNBLOCKING PART. THIS WILL STOP THE ACCOUNT FROM BEING ABLE TO SEE AND INTERACT WITH YOUR TWEETS FROM THAT ACCOUNT. VERY!!! VERY!!! USEFUL!!!

FIRST OF ALL, HIT YOUR ICON IN THE TOP LEFT CORNER. SCROLL DOWN TO SETTINGS AND PRIVACY. GOOD. NOW TAP THE PRIVACY AND SAFETY TAB. NEXT, SCROLL DOWN TO THE SAFETY SUBTAB AND TAP MUTED WORDS. GREAT!!! HALFWAY THERE. 
NOW IS THE BEST PART. YOU CAN ADD ANY WORD, PHRASE, USERNAME, OR HASHTAG TO YOUR MUTE LIST. LITERALLY ANYTHING!! CRAZY!! YOU CAN ALSO ADD VARIANTS OF THE PHRASE SUCH AS MISSPELLINGS OR ABBREVIATIONS. NEAT!! IT ALSO ALLOWS YOU TO CHOOSE HOW LONG TO MUTE IT FOR AND WHERE!! NICE!!

seriously though, please use these. i GUARANTEE that it'll make your twitter experience much better and you will be happier. curate your space, use these tools. take advantage of them. complaining about the things you hate when you could fix it makes you look dumb 
an FYI, by "idiots" i mean ppl who actively complain about things they hate when they could use these tools instead, NOT those who didn't know these tools existed but mind their business. you can be both, tho, which is why i made this thread
something that was brought to my attention was untagging ppl from their retweets!! when someone retweets a tweet and u reply to it thru the rt, they're automatically tagged in ur reply. to turn this off, hit the tags at the top of the reply pop-up and deselect the rter! easy
