Four days ago, I got an alert of N200,000 to do with as I deem fit. At the end of the day, I decided the money will have better impact outside Twitter, in a neighborhood I felt needed it more.

This is a thread of things that happened and how you can benefit from what is left 👇
The money was used to get two bags of beans, three bags of rice, two cartons of Maggie, two bags of salt and two cartons of tomatoe paste that was added as an afterthought.

The procured items were moved to a compound in the neighborhood where it'd be distributed for convenience.
Specifically, the items were moved to Apo (Pigba Sama), a poor neighborhood in Abuja.

When it got to the location, a friend got people who helped tie the items into small parcels.

Each parcel contained

- A portion of rice
- A portion of beans
- Maggie
- Salt
- Tomatoe paste.
After tying them up into parcels, they were put inside sacs for easy transportation to the site of the distribution.

On Monday evening, the first batch was distributed with the help of three people from that community (one man and two ladies).

Here is from the first day
In distributing the items on the first day, particular attention was paid to households with children (married women especially).

The team moved from house to house around that neighborhood to distribute the items. Not an easy task but had to be done for effectiveness.
I can't remember how many Houses were reached on the first day. But they were substantial enough. And carrying around those bags was definitely stressful but had to be done.
There are several short video clips from this first trip but I am not sure you'd want to see all of it. Just to give you an idea.

The clip below is from the second day. An extra help was gotten to move the items from where it was stored to where it will be distributed
On the second day, house to house distribution was combined with distribution at Central areas of the neighborhood.

This was because there was more to be distributed and the ladies had to carry those bags on their head for like an hour.
At the central location, people had to run from far off to come get a share of the parcels. 👇
And of course house to house distribution was highly prioritized.

The people chosen from the community to help with distribution have a fair knowledge of parts of the neighborhood that were poorest and most hit by the lockdown.

So they gave useful directions.
There are dozens of clips from this. But the biggest lessons there is:

1. People are seriously going through a lot. And a lot of them are still hoping the Government will help them out with food or money

2. A lot of people don't understand why they are being forced to stay home
And most importantly, little gestures like this mean a lot. You can feel the joy and appreciation from the bottom of their heart.

And old woman who got food broke down in tears. It was too emotional to be filmed. But the gesture did mean a whole lot to them.
Thank you very much to @Mazigburugburu1 for trusting me with such HUGE responsibility. I didn't know I could pull it off but I did. And thanks to the love of my life for coordinating the purchasing, making the right calls and her wisdom throughout the process.
And a big thank you to @UgwunnaEjikem for giving me tips and calling to check up on the process.

Thank you to @GhenhisKhan for being an ever dependable friend. And easing my fear.

And thank you to @bimbo_cash for the coordinating from Mazi's side. It was fruitful
There is still some money left in the process. I have contemplated what to do with it and decided to give it out on Twitter

This will probably be on Saturday. I will drop the tweet and get someone to choose and vet those dropping account numbers

For now, Thank you and take care
