It has come to my attention that there is a scam running on HSE patients awaiting an appointment

An 1850 number is calling people and asking for credit card info to pay for the consultation call

We do not charge for our appointments, this is a scam, do not give your CC details

If you have a public out patients appointment with a consultant there is NO fee, whether it's a face to face consult or a consult over the phone (also known as a virtual clinic appointment)

My department has had one patient call us to ask if we were charging and I have heard...

of people being called on spec, repeatedly, asking for credit card details, particularly the elderly

Again, we do not charge, at all, for public out patients appointments, do not give anyone your credit card details for this, if you are in doubt, call your consultants secretary

and they will happily confirm this for you
