Ok...here goes...My thoughts on Phil Neville going (I’m ecstatic btw
):
I’m sure the guy had the best intentions, but as someone who has been watching women’s football & supporting the Lionesses for many years, the decline in performance and his attitude really grated me....

Yes...we won the She Believes cup and that will remain a highlight. But it’s the lowlights that were killing the team. There are so many things I could say about things I saw (and heard first hand & second hand) but it wouldn’t be fair to voice that, so I’ll just sum it myself...
There were rumours of berating players often and to extreme - I’m no psychologist but that kills confidence. Fact.
He had favourites and it was obvious. He’d give overly zealous cuddles to some players and completely ignore others. Again, confidence killer. I watched him....

overtly do it when subs were made. Same players all the time. Watch some re-runs and you’ll see it.

Formation even when it needed changing. His idea that if White played then Beth England couldn’t..... I think most people wanted to see them BOTH out there and see how that worked but in his brain it wasn’t even an option. Baffling.

The pitch. Yes, he will probably take a part in Ellen being on fire, but let’s be honest.....she’s one of the most ruthless strikers whenever she’s fit. She has been doing her thing for years and yes, during the World Cup she was fit & immense but let’s not try to pretend that...
was Nevilles doing.
Then we have the BS of the ‘nothing game’ for 3rd place at the World Cup. Well that WAS a something game! We hired a car at massive expense and spent HOURS driving down from Lyon to Nice and back just to support our team & what we saw was players deflated....

and yes, I blame Neville for that. Of course they were gutted that we didn’t make the final but his comments and attitude flow through to the team. Your vibe hits your tribe. Fact. Again, a confidence killer.

team we love with such passion, and seeming so low was heartbreaking. BUT, I’ll be forever glad I made the effort to go to that match and see the wizard @karenjcarney play in her final game. That alone was enough

I’ve rambled, but my point is, it’s the right decision for so many reasons. I want to see the smiles back on the players faces after matches. That got lost. I saw it with my own eyes.
It’s now time for a fresh start and someone who will have more vision. Who should it be!?....

I don’t know. The FA have a habit of making odd decisions. I’d have Mo Marley but the job isn’t for her. Laura Harvey &/or Jill Ellis? I’d be delighted if they joined Dawn Scott in the set up...but I guess we wait & see. I’m optimistic & look forward to our @Lionesses back!
