Strongly considering using St. George’s Day to tweet out ideas on English devolution - not that I don’t do shit like that already

Now I’m on to endlessly redrafting a tweet about how the thing that made me accept Englishness as a national identity was moving to Wales. Being surrounded by very firm, obvious Welsh national identity, made me realise there isn’t really a UK-wide British identity.

Wales is Welsh, Scotland is Scottish, and England is English. It’s wrong to suggest everybody on this island has the same national identity, because they very obviously don’t.
