Short thread

Over my lifetime of reading I have learnt things that work for me and those that don't. #ReadingChallenge never works for me. The x number of books deadline just made me lose my love for reading. The urge to complete a book took away the thrill of it #WorldBookDay
So I decided not to do challenges and read at my own pace. Then I found a #Bookclub in 2017 and now there was the monthly reads. I struggled because yet-deadlines to read... but my bookclub peeps made it so cool. No pressure. Read. Show up #WorldBookDay #worldbookday2020
There is also the thing to read mainstream books. I tried to read books recommended by everyone-trendy. Either to keep up with the joneses or curiosity. A lot of of those books took away my joy of reading, so I decided to read books I enjoy. Popular or not #worldbookday2020
Read books you love. Don't join #bookclubs coz the idea sounds good... I tried to join bookclubs to keep up with my reading. Never worked because 'commitment and no common goals', which was- to enjoy books. Join/create clubs that work for your reading culture #worldbookday2020
When I did all the above, I found myself reading 4 books a month. Books I loved-some I didn't lol. My #Bookclub expanded my literature boundaries. Discovering new genres. Learning so much from books and from other people. Differing and agreeing on themes #worldbookday2020
Finally, not all people consume knowledge through #books. Some consume through visuals. Others through conversations etc. We live in a dynamic world where people are diverse. Here is to more knowledge. More growth #worldbookday2020 #WorldBookDay
