#SearchIntent is so important to ensure that you’re targeting the right keywords.

That’s why today’s #ThreadThursday, we’re going to look at the 3 biggest types of search intent you need to know. 👇 1/13
These are the types of search intent:

ℹ️Informational
🗺️Navigational
💳Transactional

Now let’s go into what each of them mean and how to use them for your #SEO or #PPC campaigns. 2/13
🛑Wait – Isn’t there 4 types of search intent?

Yes! You also have Branded keywords, which include a brand name. E.g. “Nike Size 5 trainers”.

The advice for building #brandcampaigns is slightly different, so we’ll focus on the other 3 today. 3/13
First: Informational. ℹ️

These searches are made from people looking for information on certain subjects or ways to solve problems. They’re usually question based and don’t have any technical language involved. 4/13
E.g:

✴️“Best way to paint a fence”
✴️“What do cats eat?”
✴️“Do you need planning permission for a loft extension?”

5/13
People who search using informational keywords aren’t ready to buy. They’re at the top of your funnel – so you need to be sending them pages that answer their question and gently tell what products they need. This isn’t the time for a hard sell.

6/13
Second: Navigational 🗺️

These terms are often for people searching for a physical location of a business. Alternatively, these search terms can be used to find a particular page on someone’s website.

7/13
E.g:

✴️“Coffee shops near me”
✴️“Jewellers In Derby”
✴️“Get in touch with O2”

8/13
Most of these terms are at the bottom end of the funnel. You don’t have to go for the soft sell here – tell them exactly where you are and try and get them through the door.

These keywords are great paired with #localSEO campaigns and SERP features. 9/13
Third: Transactional 💳

These are keywords that customers search for when they’re ready to buy. They’re usually specific and include technical language related to the product to find an exact match.

10/13
E.g:

✴️“Harvest brown 5l fence paint”
✴️“Size 9 men’s Oxford shoes”
✴️“12 inches flat elastic cord”

11/13
These will be the most competed for keywords, which means you’ll be spending a lot more money and resources ranking for them. If you want more exposure for less money, you’re better off targeting informational keywords.

12/13
Knowing what your customers want when they search will up your rankings and #CTR, giving you a better #ROI.
