Two nights ago we lost a 13 year old youth. She was a part of a large population of 10-17 yr old Polynesians that have been sex trafficked. She loved art, dreamed of owning her own tattoo shop, and wanted to see the world. She deserved so much more than this life.
This isn’t a sympathy post. Rather, it’s one asking something simple that our community can do together to save lives.
Please, I’m begging you, stop defending rapist/sex trafficker family members and friends. There is no justification. I’m actually literally begging you to stop protecting them. Protect our girls and boys first. Love them first. BELIEVE THEM FIRST.
When a child in your family is telling you someone is hurting them, please be on their side. If a child is exhibiting abnormal behaviors, talk to them, notice them. If they are making it intentionally hard for you to love them? Love them extra. They need it.
