I highly encourage reading all the following texts in order to have a concrete and thorough understanding of why the world is the way it is today, and more importantly, why people are fighting for changing the system!
I recommend starting with the Communist Manifesto, a body of work that analyzes and criticizes capitalism :

https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/sw/course/mscp.pdf
Next would be the Works of Mao Zedong, wherein his doctrine to capture State power through a combination of armed insurgency, mass mobilization and strategic alliances is thoroughly elaborated.

Lastly, Vladmir Lenin on Imperialismโ”€the Highest Stage of Capitalism
this is happening right now and yet it's unbelievable how we don't notice it when it's right under our noses

Firstly, @BarakalypseNow's series on Neoliberalism (which is late stage capitalism, where we are now).

He explains Neoliberalism & its history in Part 1:
In Part 2, he explains the development of neoliberalism at it's earliest stage: the Keynesian Embedded Liberalism. It was a very reasonable economic paradigm at first, especially since it would actually benefit the masses
In Part 3, he elaborates the development of the four phases of this ideology prior to the Second World War until the present day
Part 4, he explains the further development of neoliberalism after the Second World War, amidst unexpected prosperity taking place across the globe under embedded neoliberalism
If you would rather listen to an explanation of Lenin's body of work on Imperialism, the @RevLeftRadio does a fantastic job of explaining not just the work itself, but also the context & history of it
@RevLeftRadio also has an episode explaining Socialism:
Lastly, I recommend @ProlekultFilms's "History is Marching"
A 20 min documentary series analyzing the tensions between global world powers, as well as tackling all the aforementioned topics and it's consequences throughout history until the present day. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLI-u0x44niWsFkBzYwHee1t9ry_2QJdsL
I admit that there may be some additional reading materials that are not in this thread, which may actually be essential for you to learn. So I encourage anyone to provide any additional links!
