I'm taking a week off next week and have decided that my #stayathome holiday is gonna be the time when I finally read Harry Potter.

Ok I started this morning and I might share some thoughts as I go along, if you’re up for it.

I’m hooked.

And it’s good to know what Muggles are finally.

Well Dudley seems like a real piece o' work.

Actually he never stood a chance with a dad like Uncle Vernon, aye?

Also I’m a bit concerned that Petunia isn’t that bummed that her sister died. I mean, sure - 10 years passed in one chapter leap but it seems a bit cold, no?

Feeling a kinship with Hagrid. Fan of snags. Would like a cup of tea (or something stronger).

OMG there’s a character called Diggle and I’ve been calling my bestie Diggle Doggles for YEARS and people must have thought I was a Potterhead.

Is this like when the Hoder / Hold the door moment clicks?

Sorry, won’t cross fantasy streams.

OMG Harry and Ron sharing train snacks I die.

I feel I would fit well in an annex between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

Oh thank god Ron and Harry are in the same house.

Getting bad vibes from Professor Snape tbh

Ok the dream and the Slitheren destiny is straight up Shakespearean / Star Wars

Malfoy is such a Slitheren.

Also how good would it be to put “alchemist” as your profession on an arrivals card?

Deffo doing that when I can fly again.

Surely other teachers see that Snape is evil, right? Is it a better-the-devil-you-know type sitch?

Or is he the necessary “bad cop” of Hogwarts? Every workplace has one.

Well I can't wait to see what happens when the next school year starts.

What a delightful first Harry Potter read. Perfectly paced, loved the humour, beautiful and sad and joyful in all the right places. BIg fan of Hagrid (obvs), keen to get to know Dumbledore more.

Also, clearly there's a lot more to discover about Snape.

I'll start a new thread for the next book.
