Debt can not only be passed on financially to your children, but also spiritually.

Debt owed to someone/some people who treated you well and were there for you and your family - needs to be remembered, acknowledged and left resolved by the time you pass.

Let me explain.
Let me put this in a very short story. In the 90s some people wanted nothing to do with me for various reasons. except one man.

Who always vouched for me, and gave me means to work and feed my family. He risked his own job for me. This is was in the 90s
This year I receive a call from him asking for my help. And I do not hesitate- I make myself available.

He arrives by himself and I consult with him. He needs extensive work. Which I gladly offer free of charge. Much to his surprise.
It is later that night I explain to him that I was told to help him for free because decades ago he helped Thina abakaMkhize. Amathongo kaMkhize are returning the favour which was given to them by his family.

See favours and help has spiritual implications underlying them.
I’ve told my family and children of this man - they must know who helped us all those years ago. Because if I cannot settle in time , they must be aware of it.

Imagine if I had refused to help because of money? That is why I say look beyond the flesh and see ithongo.
Young people come see me and there’s nothing wrong but a debt that their parents left.

Never forget who helped you on your way. And share it with your family. Remember who chose to use what their ancestors gave them, to help you.
The importance of saying thank you. Even if they do not come to you asking for help. When you are in the position to do so, say thank you to that man/woman.

Teach your children this - everything in life has spiritual meaning.
This too includes treating people horribly. Someone will need to atone for those atrocities.

What are your children inheriting from you?
You cannot build generational wealth where generational debt still exists. There is spirituality to building generational wealth - but that’s a topic for another day.
