Idk if this is a thing already, but... if the film/television/media industries in all the a Caribbean countries were to come together to form one Caribbean Entertainment industry, do y’all know what greatness that could be achieved? 1/6
The accurate representation of who we are as Caribbean People! Our animators, producers, directors, Makeup artists, story writers, actors & actresses, graphic designers would all benefit. Local television and theatres would thrive. 2/6
As a result, I do believe we would see a more united region because with with more exposer to the subcultures of the various Caribbean countries through media/television/cinema we would all learn more about each other and in essence, breaking down barriers of ignorance. 3/6
The same can be said for the idea of a Caribbean Music Industry. One industry to uplift OUR Artistes. Dancehall, Soca, Calypso, Reggae, Zouk, Bachata, Merengue, Salsa, Kompa, Bouyon, Raboday, Dennery Segment, Plena, Punta, Reggaeton, Dembow. 4/6
As Caribbean People; as Caribbean Artistes, Creatives, Influencers we need to unite & forge OUR OWN identity. We shouldn’t sit and wait to be accepted by American media only for them to pick and choose what parts of us and our culture are marketable and palatable to them. 5/6
We have so much talent in our region, we have so much potential. We need to wake and realise that as one, we can achieve so much more. Now is not the time for ignorance, blaming or animosity. We’ve been divided for so long, it’s time to UNITE! 6/6
