El Salvador, also known as the land of volcanoes, has 23 active volcanoes despite its small size. El Salvador has some of the best beaches that line the Pacific coast, great for surfing and scuba diving. Nearly 50% of the country’s exports is coffee which is found worldwide 💗
Guatemala hosts the largest indigenous population in Central America, as well as the tallest volcanoes in the region. The country is also rich in Mayan artifacts within its rainforests. Guatemalans with Mayan Ancestry make up more than half of the countries population
Nicaragua is the largest country in Central America, with Lake Nicaragua being the largest lake in the region and 19th in the world. Bull sharks are known to inhabit the lakes and rivers of this country
A popular vacation destination, Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse nations in the world. It contains 6% of the world’s flora and fauna. Rainforests line both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts.
Honduras is home to the second largest coral reef in the world, which is shared with nearby Guatemala, Belize and Nicaragua. Honduras is also home to the largest Afro-Latino populations in Latin America.
Panama is home to the Panama Canal, a canal which connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean. It’s capital boasts high-end city life and modern skyscrapers
Last but not least, Belize. Belize is the only country in Central America with English as its official language. The country is home to more than 900 Maya ruins. The Great Blue Hole, located on Belize’s barrier reef is one of the top places to dive.
