Those days after school, it was a tradition for me and my friends to branch at the Popular game house at Isolo road. We would play PS1 and sometimes gamble on it.
You know how time flies when youâre in a game house? Go in by 2pm, Play 2 rounds of PES and itâs already 6pm

My Dad is the typical Igbo Man who couldnât finish school because he had to learn business because of funds, so he would give his right arm just for everyone of us his kids to go to school.
If you want my Dad to give you anything, just relate it to school.
âDad, you know that doctor you saw on TV, itâs because he bought this book on Photosynthesisâ
âDad you know that Banker in our estate, he did this extra course on Financial Goliathâ

Next thing youâll hear is âEgoâleâ
He didnât care as long as itâs about education
So I had told my Dad that I registered in After-School Lessons to prepare for Junior WAEC. Nothing gave him more Joy. He even started telling my senior brother

âHeâs taking his life seriouslyâ
Leemao
Well it was easy to back up my claims because I was actually good in school and my results showed it but I had a problem and that was Video games

My Dad got that when he bought us the Original PS and it seemed like no one noticed him when he came home from work, so he seized it. I started going to Game house, saving up my lunch money to play PES
It wasnât long enough my peers started suggesting we gamble, that thatâs the only way to truly learn and be a Pro. Well that is not far from the truth but Gambling is also very addictive.
Little by Little, Naira by Naira it drags you in till you canât quit because youâre either

Fighting to recover the money you lost or youâre greedy to get more. You want to stop but peer pressure...

On getting home, the first thing I sighted was N1,000 on Top of the dining Table. My Dad usually left N1,000 everyday for Fuel and my younger brother was in charge of it.
You know how your Eyes sees your nose every moment but chooses to ignore it, yes the money was always there

it was like a default so my eyes would always ignore it but this day my eyes failed me. It didnât ignore it.
First thing I thought was how to chop my 4k back. I quickly put on my Rccg bangle for Goodluck and ran back to the game house with the N1,000

Gbas Gbos... Them chop my N1,000 again. It was already 8pm and I knew that winter was coming at home.
I didnât bother running home. I was late, I was hungry, I was tired, I would chop beating at home, so why do I have to run to my death?

Immediately I entered the house, my Mum just dragged me to her side, I donât know the discussion that had happened before then but from her reaction She didnât have money to bury any of her child
My Dad was so Calm, watching NTA news but you could see the rage in his eyes...

Mum was only concerned that I didnât eat my food in the Pot but my dad was already pricing casket. My younger brother had told him that I took the money to bet in a game house.
I had committed 3 crimes... I wasnât going to After school lessons, I played video game, I gambled.

My mum left me for a few minutes to go Iron some clothes and I was eating when I felt something hit my head, the food flew out of my mouth. I thought someone hit me with a Pestle but it was my Dadâs hands, Man fought in the Biafra war at age 12 so it was no surprise

I think I was unconscious for like 3 seconds but there was no time to be unconscious I have to run for my life
The safest place is with my Mum, because my Dad will never hit her, not even by mistake. I heard my Mum scream from the laundry room so I made towards there...

But like 5 rapid slaps don enter my skull, I think I had internal bleeding or something Cos that pain lasted for a month
I ran to my mumâs back and she made to lock the door but my dad was in already. I kept going back till I tripped on the wire of the pressing iron...

I fell on the floor and the iron fell on my Laps. My dad quickly rushed me and Put me in the Car and drove to the pharmacy. He was smiling thru out the trip, it was like he was happy I learnt my lesson but at least he wasnât the one that did it

Because my Mum will put it on him and guilt trip him for the rest of his life but now he was free and Iâve gotten a Scar to live with.
Since then I hated gambling with passion, I canât even stake N100 on Bet9ja.
