Fantano& #39;s review model is the problem, not fantano, and his model of tons of reviews and quick turnarounds is to feed the algorithm so he can make a living. He misses out on ideas and concepts that maybe you don& #39;t cos you really get to invest in the music and take time...
he missed a lot of trans elements in our record (or just chose not to speak on them because maybe he wasn& #39;t comfortable taking that on, which is fair), he likely missed a lot of nuance of being a woman. Not a shock cos he& #39;s not and can& #39;t take time on it. The system is flawed...
But it& #39;s what he has to do and clearly it& #39;s working for him. I like his channels. I think he has interesting insight. I get frustrated if I feel like he missed something that was obvious to me but I get it& #39;s an opinion. That& #39;s just art/people& #39;s varying life experiences.
I& #39;d be pissed if fantano never reviewed a trans artist again just cos he& #39;s not trans. Same if he never reviewed another person of color& #39;s work. Do I trust opinions from those groups more to critique that work? Yes, of course, but he can reach tons of people. It was huge for us.
