I attended CDSS Ikeja, Federal Govt Model College Kankon, and then Babcock. Out of all these schools what did i learn?
For those that dont know - CDSS is Command day sec sch. Ikeja Cantonment. set awon 01 - before the bomb blast. lol
this was the main stage i learned how to chop and chest cane 😅
Kankon showed me a different side and taught me how to live on my own (away from family)..
na here dancing and rapping start to grow leg. lol
meanwhile i was doing pretty well with my studies - even if nor be me dey carry 1st, i sha no carry last and i don sabi chop cane for school (from gbo gbo soldier) - so house cane no get mouth again 😂
a brief 2 year pause while sitting at home tackling the almighty and dreadful JAMB 😣
and then my wonderful parents decided that - seeing as i wan turn omo ale - my deliverance lay in the christianity and upright mannerism of Babcock Uni.
oh - they were sooooo wrong 🤣🤣🤣
so i went to Babcock and thats how i joined geng geng geng oh 😅
met new friends and old friends and took shey weyrey to new heights.
@mrnellynells helped in no small measure here 😂
Sadly B.U was the downfall of my 'efiwe' status (whatever little one dey sha) - but a great eye opener for my personal, creative growth and general perception of the world.
I remember stories of 'pastors' who beat their wives becoming public knowledge,
i remember facing different disciplinary panels.. also remember learning how to stab classes with looooooong knives 😂😂
through all of this - all i really wanted was to study sound technology. Which wasn't the kind of thing my folks were trying to hear.
i recall my pops saying to me "you want to do music? you want to be a rapper? in this house? " grabbing his balls in 'hip hop style' 😂😂😭😭
>> Fast forward to date - I've studied sound, rapped - and surpassed a lot of expectations and i sometimes think of those BU days.. and all that money spent. lol
Generally most african parents spend a lot on education hoping the child can turn out to be something they want..
...which is not always realistic for both parties. There's a thin line between paying huge sums of money to a school and delusion. the delusion that the pikin will be a lawyer. or accountant. or engineer.
Naija aint even setup that way!
People study Mass Comms & end up working at the bank because 'when desirable is not available - available becomes desirable'...
all in all - everyone will teach their kids in their own unique way.
