Today the Chief Medical Officer told the #covid19Aus Senate committee that he didn’t know about the #RubyPrincess until after 2,700 passengers were allowed to disembark.

And that’s just the beginning of this debacle…

Ever since the #RubyPrincess docked in Sydney on 19 March, we are all living with the consequences:
- 700 #covid19Aus cases
- Over 20 deaths
- Responsible for 10% of cases in https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🇦🇺" title="Flag of Australia" aria-label="Emoji: Flag of Australia">

And it’s put pressure on health systems in every state & territory. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-23/coronavirus-across-australia-if-ruby-princess-never-docked/12172314">https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020...
Let& #39;s take a look at my home state of NSW…

390 of 2,971 coronavirus cases in the state are from the #RubyPrincess.

That& #39;s 13% of cases from one boat.

But passengers were allowed to use public transports, hop in cabs and Ubers, and fly across the country and around the world…
Let& #39;s take a look at South Australia…

89 of 437 coronavirus cases in the state are from the #RubyPrincess.

That& #39;s an astonishing 20% of cases from one boat.
Let& #39;s take a look at QLD…

85 of 1,024 coronavirus cases in the state are from the #RubyPrincess.

That& #39;s 8% of cases from one boat.
Let& #39;s take a look at WA…

54 of 546 coronavirus cases in the state are from the #RubyPrincess.

That& #39;s 10% of cases from one boat.
Let& #39;s take a look at Victoria…

33 of 1,336 coronavirus cases in the state are from the #RubyPrincess.

That& #39;s 2.5% of cases from one boat.
Let& #39;s take a look at the ACT…

21 of 104 coronavirus cases in the territory are from the #RubyPrincess.

That& #39;s 20% of cases from one boat.
Let& #39;s take a look at the NT…

2 of 27 coronavirus cases in the territory are from the #RubyPrincess.

That& #39;s still 7% of cases from one boat.
And finally let& #39;s take a look at Tasmania…

22 of 202 coronavirus cases in the state are from the #RubyPrincess.

That& #39;s 11% of cases from one boat.
The CMO also told the committee today the outbreak in North West Tasmania was actually due to a #RubyPrincess passenger.

That outbreak- 100 cases & counting- shows the number of cases the Ruby Princess is responsible for is even higher than first thought. https://twitter.com/KKeneally/status/1253135106027339776">https://twitter.com/KKeneally...
As you let that sink in… the CMO made clear today the @AusBorderForce are the lead federal agency responsible for our airports and seaports during this pandemic… https://twitter.com/KKeneally/status/1253129573018947586">https://twitter.com/KKeneally...
The stats speak for themselves & the #covid19aus Senate committee will uncover more about the calamitous #RubyPrincess disaster.

Despite banning cruise ships, @ScottMorrisonMP didn’t stop the one boat that mattered and Australians are now living with the consequences.
