Here are twenty of my favorite anime series for anyone just getting into anime or just bored during the quarantine.

Number 20- Death Note

There are 37 episodes and you can find it on Netflix.

Genre – a psychological thriller

Simple Plot- Light Yagami finds the ” Death Note”, a black book that will kill anyone as long as the holder can see the targets face and knows their name.

Number 19- Terror in Resonance
There are 11 episodes in this anime and you can find it on Hulu and Funimation.

Number 18- Ceres, Celestial legend
there are 24 episodes in this anime series.
genre - Josei, romance, and tragedy

Simple Plot - Aya’s 16th birthday is turned into hell when her family tries to kill her, her brother is taken away, and her father is killed.

Number 17- Paradise kiss

there are 12 episodes in this anime series.
genre- Josei, romance, and a slice of life

Simple plot- Yukari Is the typical high school student, until one day she discovered by the fashion brand paradise kiss and awakens the model and beauty within.

Number 16 - Angelic layer
this anime series has 26 episodes

genre – mecha, shojo

Simple plot- Misaki comes to Tokyo and discovers the highly popular game called angelic layer. in order to compete in a tournament, a user must buy a Deus and learn to control it with their mind.

Number 15- Mai- Hime
this anime has 26 episodes

Genre- this is a magical girl mecha series.

simple plot- Mai and the other 12 hime’s must use their HiME Marks to protect everyone from the orphans.

Number 14- Hell Girl
this anime has 26 episodes
genre – horror and tragedy

Simple Plot- would you give up your soul to send your enemy to hell?

Number 13- Dororo
this anime has 24 episodes
Genre- Seinen and historical

Simple plot- Dororo must kill all the demons who possess his body parts because of his father's choice to sacrifice him as a baby for a prosperous land.

Number 12- Vinland Saga
this anime has 24 episodes
genre- action, historical, and tragedy

Simple Plot- after witnessing his own father’s murder a young Thorfinn seeks revenge by joining the band of mercenaries and plots his revenge on a certain someone.

Number 11- The Ancient Magus' Bride
this anime has 24 episodes
genre- Fantasy, supernatural, romance

Simple plot- Chise sells herself at an auction and is sold for 5,000,000 pounds.

Number 10- Yona of the Dawn
this anime has 24 episodes and 3 Ova
genre- Romance, Fantasy, and Adventure.

simple plot- Yona was once a carefree princess until her crush reveals a planned coup d'é·tat to become the new king.

Number 9- D. GRAY-MAN
this anime has 103 episodes

Simple plot- Allen Walker must use his cursed eyes to save the souls trapped in Akuma and stop Millennium Earl's plans to destroy the world.

Number 8- Nabari no ou
This anime has 26 episodes

Simple Plot- Rokujou is now being hunted because he's the holder of shinrabanshou, a powerful technique that every ninja clan wants in order to become the ruler of Nabari.

Number 7- Kuroko’s basketball
this anime has 75 episodes

Simple Plot- Seirin Highschool must defeat all the members of the miracle generation, who all play for different schools.

Number 6- Elfen Lied

This anime has 13 episodes

Simple plot- The Diclonius ultimate goal is to destroy mankind and create a new world of their own.

Number 5- Slam Dunk!
This anime has 101 episodes

Simple plot- Hanamichi discovers a love for basketball and is determined to be the best no matter what.

Fun Fact- This anime is the reason Japan has such a huge passion for basketball.

Number 4- paranoia agent

this anime has 13 episodes and can be found on Funimation Now

simple plot- you better run when you see Lil’ Slugger

Number 3- death parade
This anime has 12 episodes

Simple Plot- once you die you are either reincarnated or sent to the void. But before that, you arrive at the Quindecim, a bar where you play a game and a decim decide who wins and who loses.

Number 2- Future diary
this anime has 26 episodes

simple plot- in this deadly battle royale, 12 people are given future diaries and whoever survives this hell will become the heir to space and time.

Number 1- Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler
This anime has two seasons on Netflix

Plot- how much are you willing to gamble on when the risk is so high?
