Ramadan,
what is it?
Ramadan is when Muslims are expected to abstain from food and drink between sunrise and sunset for 28-30 days. Usually they will have a meal just before dawn, and another after sunset. At the end of the fast, when the sun has gone down, family and friends +
+ will get together for Iftar to break their fast.
their fast is traditionally broken with a date or watermelon
before they eat they would say bismillahirrahmanirrahim (in the name of God, the gracious, the merciful)
+
+ Why do we fast?
Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and heightened devotion and worship. Muslims are expected to put more effort into following the teachings of Islam.
+
+ What isn't allowed while fasting
Eating, drinking, and sexual relations are not allowed between dawn
and sunset.
so no we can't drink water, not even a little bit.
+
+ Who can and can't fast?
There are several groups of people who scholars agree are not required to fast during Ramadan. These include the elderly, people who are pregnant, nursing or menstruating, people who are ill and travelers.+
+If you don't fast for any of the days of Ramadan, you'll be required to fast at another time to make up for it before the next Ramadan come around.
