There's some irony here that this litany of food poisoning scandals is the direct result of this cultural obsession is "freshness", like this is literally why their competitors ship their ingredients frozen https://twitter.com/ajplus/status/1252768617189371905
It's a really funny thing about the age we live in that we think the worst thing that can happen to food is being adulterated in order to preserve it - frozen, canned, had added preservatives, etc - when all that stuff was invented because food actually going bad is way way worse
All the gushing about Chipotle back in the day about how they proved you don't need to rely on freezing and processing with a little extra work

Well it turned out to be a LOT of extra work and they had multiple cases of big labor disputes AND food poisoning so hey
Kinda seems like in the long run what they actually proved was that the McDonald's model (shipping packaged, frozen ingredients with an "idiot-proof" prep procedure) existed for a reason
I dunno, it's not that I like traditional factory-like fast food - in fact I agree it's a major social ill that's probably helping to kill us all - but the faux-green "best of both worlds" marketing from Chipotle always annoyed me
"The speed and convenience of fast food with the freshness and quality you expect from a restaurant

What's so hard about that?"

Man FOH
Yeah big surprise it was because you were working everyone behind the scenes like scurrying hamsters in a giant rickety Rube Goldberg machine that fucked up all the time and kept giving people E. coli
