#AntoniaMaino was born in a poor family of Stefano Maino who fought in Mussolini's army and became poor after Mussolini lost in World War 2.
Antonia was ambitious since childhood but had no means to fulfil them. That's why she took petty jobs to earn Money since young age.

When she grew up, her beauty came in handy and she became #BarDancer in a club in london where she earned more money than the previous jobs she took. But young Antonia wasn't satisfied as she was a #BarDancer and all her friends in Cambridge were from rich n respectful families.

But Franco was an honourable man. He disapproved of her methods, told her on her face that she was wrong, greedy, ambitious and bitchy. Antonia felt guilty about her mistake and even decided to elope with Franco after mixing poison in Rajiv's brandy next night.

Though, Suzy came to know about her plans. She tried to convince her that she was doing mistake by murdering Rajiv.

Antonia was in tears seeing the goodness of Suzy and felt guilty that she tried to murder her earlier. She hugged her tight and finally decided to live with Rajiv for rest of her life. She may not get the passionate love like Franco but atleast she would be rich n powerful.

So, Antonia ditched Franco, came to India and changed her identity to Sonia Gandhi to get rid of her secret past and embrace the money and power that she was bestowed upon after marrying Rajiv. She hates the name Antonia Maino because it reminds her of her first love Franco.
