Before you cancel Brendon Urie, here are some things to think about. Now, disclaimer, I know he’s done some things and said stuff that is NOT okay, but things are being taken out of context and a lot of stuff he’s apologized for.

When the band started out, Brendon was a teenager, and it was the early 2000s. Now, this doesn’t mean it’s an excuse for saying things that are racist or using slurs, NOT AT ALL. HOWEVER, in the last 20 years what is perceived as okay or not okay to say has changed DRASTICALLY.

Things could be said 10 years ago and people wouldn’t blink an eye, but now there are many more “jokes” that are simply unacceptable. Which is GOOD. But a teenager/early 20s in the mid 2000s didnt necessarily have a grasp on where the line was being crossed. Times have changed.

Now, people are so so much more aware of this.
Brendon has apologized for using the t slur, and while that doesn’t make it okay, he was quoting someone and he did respond to it in a mature manner.

As for things from the past he hasn’t apologized for, I can’t defend that. Some things are forgotten, some things are better left in the past because young people are naive. What people forget is that teenagers now are SO SO much more informed and mature about issues involving

Sexuality, gender, race, etc.

Personally, I don’t claim to know all of the things Brendon has said or done, but I don’t believe he is a bad person. Some of the things he has done i ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CONDONE, please realize this, but people learn from their mistakes and Brendon

Seems to have done that.

Now for the love of god can we PLEASE STOP FUCKING CANCELING PEOPLE
