A Thread:

Does it bother anyone else when remarks like “leave mom alone so she can watch Outlander in the bathtub” (C*lbert) or the horny librarian story are made about OL?

The show is actually for everyone? Maybe you jsut aren’t engaging with it because of the main character?
It reminds me of this quote from an article I read:

“But if men avoid this show, it'll be out of their own lack of adventurousness and reticence —dare I call it cowardice —to engage with a mode that they would otherwise love, simply because a woman is their guide.” (Link below)
And that’s absolutely right. It’s a fantasy story with so many facets to intrigue, sex, love, action, etc. There’s no reason the larger audience shouldn’t enjoy (if we’re talking tropes/subject matter)—except perhaps this glaring difference of our guide being a nuanced woman.
This isn’t to harp on or bash GoT. While there’s things about it that don’t thrill me, theres *plenty* I enjoyed watching. And I did enjoy watching it.

This is purely to put into context my frustration with those comments about Outlander that are so prevalent.
Let’s discuss! I’m curious if comments like the above (i.e. “premium females,” “horny librarians” or the moms in their bathtubs comments) really frustrate you guys too.

This has been late night musings with Armineh. Lol
