I was told to quarantine for two weeks with a probable case of COVID-19 today. This includes distancing in my own home as much as possible from my wife, who has underlying health conditions that would make this disease extremely serious for her.

Please stay home if you are able.
I am hopeful that tomorrow I will be able to get tested to know for sure if I have the virus. I have exhibited symptoms, but not severe or usual ones. An article on "COVID toes" last night led to a number of phone calls today.
But the inability to be tested today, to be left with a "we'll take your information down and get back to you" is infuriating. We are the richest country in the world and people do not have access to the tests they need.
I am grateful my wife & I have jobs that allow us to work from home. & I am glad we took the social distancing guidelines & stay at home orders seriously. My own contact trace list is only 4 places long. But we need widespread testing, both diagnostic & antibody, & we need it now
So I'm asking, begging, my congressional representatives to act. @SenGillibrand, @SenSchumer, @RepPaulTonko, please find a way to ramp up testing nationwide. I'd rather know exactly what I have or don't have than have it be unknown. This needs to happen. For NY. For the nation.
This entire experience, from mid-March to today, has also been extremely damaging for my mental health. I know many others are in a similar boat. Please do not hesitate to reach out and speak to someone if you need to. NYS has a COVID mental health hotline here: 1-844-863-9314
