Oh no. Why is this tweet gaining traction? Are you as frustrated as I am?
Ok. Because this has almost 3k likes, let me clarify. I tweeted this out of frustration. Like many teachers, I am (still) for mass promotion. Now that the UP system requires numeric grades, I honestly don& #39;t know how to move forward.
I am not at all comfortable in assessing my students& #39; performance (much more grade it) at a time like this. I do not understand this obsession with "excellence" in a pandamic. Isn& #39;t survival enough for now?
Hay. It& #39;s time for another clarification because this reached 10k likes already:
1. This is my personal opinion amd this does not reflect the values of my unit, department, and university.
2. I believe in a learner-centered teaching philosophy. If learners are in distress...
...they come first before grades. In Filipino, pagtuturong makatao/makaestudyante.
3. Hindi ako takot na ipasa o bigyan ng mataas na marka ang mga estudyante ko kung ang kapalit nito ay kapayapaan ng isip. Ang ibang estudyante, walang internet, walang makain, namatayan...
