Yes, I have the PDX Eater’s editor’s email now. They sent me a message today to chat about my tweet and I’ll share here what I learned so no one makes the same mistakes I did yesterday: https://twitter.com/jacksonglidden/status/1253118608512708608">https://twitter.com/jacksongl...
1. My tweet sent the message to them that I was “upset” at not being covered and also they felt I was “complaining” on twitter.

2. The editor’s life and job is REALLY hard! They have a super full plate trying to write all the stories and lists. It’s particularly hard right now.
3. I should just reach out to them anytime. Although their job is hard and they’re overwhelmed with hundreds of emails all the time and they have to keep track of thousands of restaurants, I should just reach out via the editors email or the tip section on their website.
3. (Cont.) PR is NOT necessary to get covered by them. You just have to reach out. There isn’t a game to play to get covered, but definitely DONT tweet about it. It’s not a good strategy in their opinion.
4. The editor is not my publicist, and it& #39;s not their job to write about me simply because I want them to.
5. They cannot possibly know what every restaurant is up to in the whole city, but fun fact, the editor lives 2 blocks away from my shop so, a neighbor!
So, I publicly stand corrected on twitter, folx. Hope you all have gained some knowledge and maybe other young entrepreneurs will understand a little more about what goes on with media publications. I really don’t know much about that world but now I know a little more.
I will be thankful I had an opportunity to gain perspective. I have been at work for 16 hours (and still more to go) and I haven’t seen my kids today but I will take the lesson. I know the editor took the time out of their day to write me all the info. I won’t forget it.
Also, turns out they were planning to add me to a list on Friday. What do you know! They said they are still planning on including me despite my last tweet although I don’t know if it will be despite this tweet. I did not ask permission to share my experience
