I feel like academia folks and/or folks from that background don't understand just how much their language is, for lack of a better term, intimidating and makes those not in academia feel like they can't participate.
I consistently have to tell myself, "You're not dumb," when I have to look things up after interacting with academics. And I consider myself well-educated! But folks actively studying/researching often use language that is just not accessible to many and it's super frustrating.
But truly: Academic Education Researchers, if on-the-ground K-12 teachers cannot access nor understand your work, then who exactly is your work for and what is its purpose?

I'm not even trying to be snarky, I'm really just asking.
