I said this a little earlier today, but I am going to expand on it.

I drove around my area, north of Atlanta today. I wanted to see what was open and what was closed. I am going to post a list. You tell me what is the difference between these being open & Other businesses
These never shut down.

99% of restaurants near me are open for takeout and delivery.
Home Depot
Walmart
Target
Lowe's
Best Buy
Michael's
Joann's
All office supply stores
cellular phone stores
nutrition stores
vape shops
chiropractors -think about that
Drug stores
Gas stations
Auto part stores
Car Washes
Garden Centers
Hotels
Liquor Stores
Flooring and decor stores
Banks
Some chain furniture stores
Some Retail stores for online only
Veterinarians
Sporting Goods stores
Dry Cleaning
Car Dealers
What businesses are generally closed?
Florists
Jewelry stores
Tailors
Home accent/gift shops
Anything for kids- shops, skating rinks, gyms, playgrounds
Mattress stores
Literally,in one block.
Home Depot has been packed- next door Best Buy, Dollar Tree, Michaels, Pet Store. Pretty busy. Other small retail businesses shuttered- rug store, mattress store, jewelry store, etc.
Across the street. Target packed Party Store online orders/pickup only
Same shopping center- Ross closed, Famous Footwear closed, Justice closed, Hibbet's closed. Nail salon closed
Why are some retail stores more equal than others?

And why can a doctor's office or chiropractor be open, and a masseuse cannot?
Why can a grocery store be open, and a gym cannot- if there is social distancing, limited people and sanitizing?

Nail salons in my area- workers have been wearing masks and gloves for years.
Hair dressers have a plan. limit clients. Wear PPE. Santizing.
And honestly. If you want to take your family bowling. you can be on a lane together. And skip a lane for another family. And skip a lane for another family. Social Distancing.
There are more than 10 people in the grocery store and Home Depot at a time
And Governor Kemp is still asking people to only go out for what is needed. He just realizes that what some people need might be different than what other people need. He is also talking about staggered hours in offices, continuing telework, no breakrooms, etc.
And on top of all of that, road crews are working near me, HVAC people are working, flooring is still being installed, electricians are working, pest control and carpet cleaners.
We have to break through this hysteria. I applaud @GovKemp for leading the way on this. As he said today. He is looking at the data, and taking a measured approach.
He is not mandating businesses open. He is just giving them a choice. He is also giving Georgian's a choice
I choose common sense and freedom. I choose to support my community economically as best we can. Thankfully, we are in a position to do so.

Oh, and I wish you could have listened to @hughhewitt radio show this morning. He was taking calls from business owners who are already making plans to change their operating procedures to make it safe as possible for everyone. I hope he and others continue to ask people that Q
