1. Mumbai - Ahmedabad - Jaipur - Delhi is one of the main arteries of Indian economy. Mumbai-A’bad route is most important stretch of this

2. If maoists get operational toehold in forests north of MMR (which stretch continuously to Dang, GJ and Burhanpur, MP), Mumbai cuts off
3. Palghar-Tarapur-Navsari-Vapi-Surat-Ankaleshwar is the chemical industry belt of India which is dependent primarily on Mumbai port. Very polluting belt

4. Locals in this region already primed (rightly so in my opinion) already due to extreme pollution of air and water here
5. The plans to develop deep-sea port in the region (near Dahanu) along with this pollution issue has already popularised anti-industry CPM in that region. It is one step away from CPIML

6. Also this belt is tribal and missionaries have been active in this belt for decades now
7. Combined with these factors, this region is ripe for full blown Missionary money backed and drug-alcohol money funded Maoist insurgency, if corrective steps not taken.

8. I hope the system takes those corrective steps on all these 6-7 factors before it is too late.
PS -

9. The compliance and concern of all industry owners towards following environmental norms is regrettably lax

10. They show little scruples when it comes to dumping toxic emissions and effluents in air and water bodies. GIDC and MIDC to be blamed here too
11. It will be a real shame if Maoists ride on a genuine issue (which is essentially dhārmik - pertaining to environmental protection) to infest this good earth
PPS :
