The Importance of the 5 daily prayers [A thread]

Ibn Umar (r.a.) narrates: RasulAllah ﷺ stated the following: “The place of prayer (salah) in religion is like the place of the head in the body.”

Jabir Ibn Abdullah (r.a): The Prophet ﷺ said, “Between faith and unbelief is abandoning the prayer.”

RasulAllah ﷺ said, “On the Day of Judgment, a slave will be questioned about his prayers first. If his prayers are good, his other deeds will be good, too. If his prayers are bad, his other deeds will be bad, too.”

Salah is a reason we will or won’t (God forbid) enter Jannah

“(And asking them) ‘What put you into Saqar (hell) ? ’ They will say, ‘We were not of those who prayed.”

(QS. Al-Muddaththir : 42-43)

Deprived of Allah’s protection and security

“Whoever abandons the five daily salats will be deprived of the protection and security of Allahu ta’ala.”

(Narrated by Ibn Majah)

the Prophet ﷺ that :

“When a person who abandons prayers reaches Allah, he will see that Allah will have inflicted His wrath on him.”

And what prevents their expenditures from being accepted from them but that they have disbelieved in Allah and in His Messenger and that they come not to prayer except they are lazy and that they do not spend except while they are unwilling.”

(QS. At-Tawbah : 54)

Allah says in the Quran

"So woe to the worshippers, who are neglectful of their prayers”

[Al-Qur'an 107:4-6]

5 daily prayers are pillars of islam

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,

“The prayer is the pillar of the religion.”

Narrated Abu Hurairah

I heard RasulAllah (ﷺ) saying, "If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day would you notice any dirt on him?" They said, "Not a trace of dirt would be left."——

——He said added, "That is the example of the five prayers with which Allah blots out (annuls) evil deeds."

REMINDER Allah does not need us. We need Allah

“Recite, what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do.”

(QS. Al-Ankabut : 45)

More than one of the scholars have stated that there was consensus that the one who does not pray becomes a disbeliever.

Ishaaq ibn Raahawayh ﷺ said: This is the opinion of the scholars from the time of the Prophet until our present time.

Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

What appears to me to be the case is that he does not become a disbeliever unless he does not pray altogether, i.e., he never prays; as for the one who prays sometimes, he is not a disbeliever.

Some negative effects of not praying in islam:

Lost the direction in life
Unable to find balance
Facing endless problems everyday
Felling down and sorrow all the time.

Praying our 5 daily salah is so important in Islam, and as we learned from this thread, we will face grave consequences for not preforming our prayers.

May Allah allow us to become steadfast in our salah and forgive us for our shortcomings Insha’Allah
