letting y’all know that this thread is gonna be about my own opinions/RPS fanfics and fiction and NOT real life, >i already know that< that being said, there’s this stigma going around lately shaming people for having top/bottom preferences +

personally for me i do think it’s a little bit overdramatic when someone will literally block somebody for having an opposite preference. it’s even worse when u shame and send hate to someone for it when what they like doesn’t affect your life at all. it’s all just FICTION.

moving on, let’s say someone DOES prefer to read for a top/bttm dynamic over a plot in a fanfic. it’s their opinion, there’s other stories for them to read, and plenty other readers for that story. no one should force themselves to read smth they don’t want bc of a “good plot”.

it’s like shaming somebody for not watching a horror movie bc they’re “missing out on a good plot”.
which by the way, most the time, whoever tops or bottoms in the fic actually does affect the plot/personalities in the story which can make it unpleasant.

i would know bc before being only bottom yg, i used to read top yg as well in the beginning. at first i didn’t really care abt top/bottom either, and i was new to m/m shipping, but after a while reading top yg started becoming really unpleasant, and here’s my opinion why:

almost every top yg fic has the “myg is bad at feelings” “grumpy myg” “myg is an asshole” tag. BIG SIGH. he‘s always written as being an overthinker, horrible with feelings, rude, cold, snarky, distant. it got BORING! especially trying to read a canon fic.

if you’re going to write a canon fic how about try and not to make yg a cold distant asshole for a change?? stop writing irl myg as agustd. yg is GOOD with feelings, smart, soft, jm literally exposed him bc he’s always whining for attention back home.

yg actually LIKES being pretty and cute. he likes to play around, he gets bashful, he’s a very clear headed person, he’s wise and gentle, sensitive, funny. how many times has he said he likes being cherished? and i’ve only ever seen THAT yg written in bottom yg fics.

it’s less about who’s getting what up their ass and more about reading yg being treated and cherished the way he said he likes. reading yg soft and gentle the way he is irl :c

please don’t even get me started on how more unrealistic some of those top yg fics can get jfjdjdjs like i’m sorry but since WHEN has yg ever had the strength to pick up anyone and pin them against the wall?? he couldn’t even lift hobi off the floor so let’s not go there jfjdjs

BUT i digress. you like reading yg topping and being cold and distant? u like reading yg being able to lift someone else? that’s fine, i don’t care. it doesn’t affect my life and i’m not gonna block u over smth like that. but i CAN agree to disagree and avoid it if i want

u might tell me to read sub or soft top yg but ngl overtime i did get uncomfortable with the thought of yg topping, but that’s bc i just like him bottoming now. it’s a preference i’ve gotten a taste for after a year reading only bttm yg

anyway it doesn’t mean i like reading only pink sub yg. soft dom bottom, power bottom, average bottom myg is all amazing. as long as he’s being worshipped like the mandu he is.
besides top jk and bottom yg has smth cute and special to it uwu

it’s like jk is always getting taken care of by his hyung, and yg is always the hyung taking care of everyone else. and this way, they get to switch and jk is finally the one who gets to be gentle and take care of yg while yg is cherished and lets himself submit UWU

but anyway that last part was self indulgent lmfao so in conclusion STOP SENDING HATE to people who like top X and bottom X, and STOP SHAMING people who have preferences at all. let people like what they like, they all have their reasons why they like what they do!
