There still hasn’t been any historical evidence that supports the theory that colorism or pigmentocracy existed in Africa before colonialism. So I’m still inclined to believe that it’s a byproduct of white supremacy that evolved & adjusted to prevailing norms.
Colonizers conducted a physical and psychological warfare on us and the result was Africans being socialized to despise the color of our skin, Africoid features and coarse hair. Despise our very essence and view proximity to whiteness as the pinnacle of virtue & success.
Colorism evolved & gave birth to featurism (disdain of Africoid features that resemble the ‘stringent mold’ pushed by white supremacy) and texturism (coarse hair which is the most common black hair type). All these elements play a part in ensuring that we remain at the bottom.
So I find it hard to believe that pre-colonial Africa was already dealing with colorism. Pre-colonial and post-colonial Africa was and is still overwhelmingly & unambiguously
black. Darker skin, Africoid features and coarse hair being standard & most common features.

You could argue that white supremacy merely accentuated an ideology they indoctrinated us with through subjugation and dominion. As they’ve done with Christianity. The most effective & powerful weapon in the arsenal for their psychological warfare.
This is why I strongly champion that in order to correct this wrong, black people in the entire African diaspora have to de-colonize and push for an Afrocentric-standard of beauty. The features that worked as the trigger mechanism of racism should be prioritized & promoted.
The features (darker skin, Africoid features, coarse hair) should be pushed to the forefront and celebrated. The features that triggered the world & pushed them to dehumanize us for centuries shouldn’t be further dehumanized & pushed to the back by us. We do the devil’s work.
The essence of my activism against colorism, featurism & texturism stem from everything I just pointed out in this thread. I believe in this cause & so should you. We affirm our inferiority in the social hierarchy by refusing to work on ourselves and effectively solve this issue.
