Unless human beings can accustom themselves to the idea of being in a state of leisure, they are not going to be able to adapt themselves to the economy that they themselves are creating.

If one has to go on producing for the sake of producing, that is like an airplane in flight. It can never hover. It must go on doing what it is doing, or collapse.

In a culture where everybody has to keep producing, even though plenty is produced already, all kinds of propaganda have to be generated to get people to buy up the surplus production.

But in order to find the means to buy it, they have got to create surplus production. Well, this is a vicious circle of major dimensions.
