. @washingtonpost A key question to ask is WHY so many in American culture care so little for the health and well-being of others. It's the flaw in American Exceptionalism that Putin, very brilliantly I might add, has exploited: exceptionalism dictates that American values
Place a far greater value on what one has, what one can get, and how much perceived value others place on all of it. Wealth means freedom to do whatever one wants cause the laws don't apply; justice goes to the one who can afford it;
A "good title" comes with a standing of status which, while it is more perception than reality, others covet. American Exceptionalism rewards people who place their worth not in the civility of being human but, rather, in placing themselves above the rest at all costs.
The exploitation of this flaw in American culture can be seen in how quickly people will take a utilitarian item, a necessity, and make it into an accessory and a representation of their avatar (because very few retain their true personality anymore).
Most civilizations die from within is the lesson we are taught in history. But the exact phases a civilization goes through on their way to catastrophe are rarely dissected. American culture and its exploitation from outside entities is playing out in full view
And we still don't have anyone asking why civility is cast aside or how we can regain it. Instead, all outlets are feeding the flame of catastrophe and normalizing the insanity of it all.
