The issue of the Rohingyas is not as simple as equating it to Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) migration. While human rights logic says that we should always help those in need, there are arguments to consider with regard to the Rohingyas. #thread
It is clear at this point that this problem can't be solved by continuously 'opening doors'. Turning away refugees who have reached our shores in boats is not something I agree with but in light of the current pandemic, welcoming them would exacerbate the situation.
Our resources are presently maxed out to deal with our citizens, tourists and those already in the country. The situation presents a conundrum. It is not as simple as 'opening doors and welcoming refugees in' because it is the right thing to do.
On the other hand, putting these stateless people down and arguing, in a harsh manner, that we should just turn them away because 'their kind is rotten' is not solving matters. Not to defend the ones who are problematic, these people have been stateless for a very long time.
It is not as simple as asking our children to behave because our children have the education background to justify behaving properly. Most of these people are probably uneducated. We can't hold them to our standards. Not to justify bad behaviour, just to highlight the dilemma.
Hence, the Rohingya conundrum is more than just 'chase them away' or 'let them in and embrace all refugees'. It runs deeper and in my opinion, Myanmar and Bangladesh should be where attention is directed to. Not countries like Thailand or Malaysia.
With that said, it is impossible to fully agree with LFL or to fully agree with the barrage of insults hurled at the Rohingyas by our Netizens.
