So...

InfoSec Twitter and the like. I wanna talk to you for a minute.

You guys are awesome. You're cohesive yet independent. You all have such a various bag of tricks and skills that is specific to only you as an individual. Nobody else in the world has your experience
and your knowledge because that's the golden benefit of individual experience. You are an asset because you have experienced things differently than anyone else.

Every morning when I wake up I check Twitter first thing. It's become a habit. And I see at least one person in your
community post "welp, got laid off. Guess I'm fucked." No. Getting laid off sucks but you're not fucked. You just think you are. You are part of a badass, cohesive community full of people that love each other like siblings, even if they only know each other in the
digital world. You all have the skills and the ability to build your own work centers and get your own clients. Take advantage of this time to figure out how to utilize your skills to work for you and your community. You don't need an employer telling you what to
do, when to do it, and how to do it. You got this. Fuck the middle man. You're the asset, not your employer. Figure it out and make it your own. If you lack aptitude for business, I guarantee you there's someone in this community who is a wealth of knowledge for the
business aspect. Marketing, finance, customer service, etc. You guys are already an entity - just not organized because for some reason you think you have to work for someone. Because it's easy to get a job and make a paycheck. Well, you don't have a job, you're
not making a paycheck, yet you're still an asset with kickass skills and experience nobody else has had.

You do you, boo boo. Fuck the employer that laid you off because you're putting a dent into their vacation fund. Make your own vacation fund. Fuck it. You rock, they suck.
