All creative projects run on belief. You need to believe in something that doesn't exist, and believe hard enough to get other people on board to make it real.

Belief is delicate, and early ideas are fragile.
It's often impossible to tell the difference between genuinely world changing idea and total nonsense at the earliest stages. You need to believe your way through the birthing pain to really see what you have.
Belief is the fuel for every great concept - and it's the fuel for every con job.

There are cases where people are asking you to believe in things *they know* are not true, to try and hold it together.
That's where it goes from creative direction to con man.

Which is a short way of saying, Magic Leap ain't laying off 1000 people because of a global pandemic. The fact they reflexively lie about the situation they're in is evidence they went from world changing to con long ago.
