I was in JSS 2 and paying almost 200 thousand per term as school fees when I told my mum I didn't want to go to university and they should send me to a fashion school instead. I just hated school a lot. Instead of shouting "this child wants to kill me o", she promised that I'll
Learn fashion but the degree is also important. We would watch Style Network and Fashion TV together even when she had no interest, make me pick designs for her in catalogues and style her.
Years later, I graduated secondary school, OAU decided to do nonsense and made us stay
Home for months. My mum used that opportunity to send me to learn tailoring. I didn't stay long before we resumed but I kept working on myself. I'm not where I want yet but my point is that is parenting.
If your child's dream differs from what you want, steer them in that path
But make it align with what they want. Not abandon them and start hitting once they rebel.
Don't be a toxic parent.
