Got asked today what's becoming an age-old question: Do I start with Yakuza 0 or Kiwami? And I know 0 is by far the popular answer, but here's one thing I think that gets a little lost when you do that -
^ The intros of Kiryu and Majima in this game are meant to *shock* you. You have never and will never again see Kiryu lording over a man clearly weaker than him, much less kicking him in the face when he's down.
And Majima? If you know him, you'd expect him to knife the dude, not offer him a towel. Fun fact, Majima intros almost always start on the shoes and work upward, so they're playing into your expectations right from the start.
But if you start with Y0, you just see and acknowledge that Kiryu is hard and Majima is soft. And it's very cool to see them change as you progress, but all the same, it's why I always say - It doesn't matter where you start. The experience just changes depending on where you do.
