ATTN: @GavinNewsom, @ocregister & Huntington Beach City Council: Mar 23 we notified our leasing office we couldn’t pay rent Apr 1. On Apr 6 we were issued a repayment plan. Apr 8 we were served an eviction notice. We are NOT the only renters facing fear & intimidation. Help us.

ATTN: @HUDPacific, @MichelleSteelCA, @CityofHBPIO & @VoiceofOC: The Federal CARES act offers no provisions for renters. State govt. is nearly as negligent. Most local govt. in CA are doing nothing to enforce @GavinNewsom's eviction ban. Why isn't local govt. protecting renters?

Please help amplify if you can. Few states are protecting renters during this unprecedented economic hardship. The Federal Government—Republicans & Dems alike—are doing nothing. The renters among us need help advocating before this becomes a crisis.

How disappointing—and telling—that this thread about the fundamental right to shelter has received so little engagement. Do those fortunate enough not to be experiencing a threat to their housing—during a pandemic no less—simply lack empathetic imagination?
