Authorities are in a standoff with a possibly armed suspect after a pursuit came to an end on the eastbound 91 Freeway at Cherry Avenue in Long Beach.

The suspect has been seen repeatedly getting in and out of the car.

The suspect appears to be communicating with officers via sign language. An interpreter has been summoned to the scene.

The CHP has issued a Sig Alert for both directions of the 91 Freeway at Cherry Ave.

The standoff continues. A K-9 is now on scene.

The suspect has been taken into custody following a standoff that lasted more than an hour.
