Happy Earth DayđŸŒ±đŸŒŽđŸŒđŸŒ

Here are some ways we can all make Earth Day be every day

1. use reusable bags when grocery shopping or shopping in general. You can also keep a giant laundry basket in your trunk to put all of your groceries in and carry it in. No plastic bags + 1 trip
2. Recycle ♻
This is sometimes tough because not everything CAN be recycled. For example pizza boxes are cardboard but can’t be recycled if they have grease stains. Here is a website that touches on some of those things. Or just google “what can I recycle?” “Local recycling”
3. Reuse gift bags/paper bags. Save every gift bag you receive from any holiday or birthday & reuse it for a gift for someone else later. I don’t personally think it’s tacky if you are avoiding waste. Just make sure there are no names left on the bag or that can get awkward
4. Invest 💰 in reusable kitchen products (this is something I’m still working on)
-silicone sandwich bags
-washable paper towels
-reusable wax paper
-metal straws
-water bottle (instead of buying bottled water)
-reusable produce bags
It may seem expensive at first but it
really is an investment because you won’t have to keep buying those products since they are reusable and it helps to not consume as much plastic.

5. Plants đŸŒ±đŸŒ±
Especially indoor plants, they are good to have because they absorb pollutants and toxins in the air which improve
the air quality and also they produce oxygen. So it’s a win win. I kill every plant I own so if you’re like me I 10/10 recommend a snake plant because unlike me they require 0 attention.
6. Vote✔
shamefully this is something I didn’t realize was as important as it is until recently over the past few years. Vote for local and state representatives that support environmental initiatives and causes and don’t just believe global warming is a hoax, because it’s not.
7. Reduce meat consumptionđŸ„©
According to PETA “Globally, animal agriculture is responsible for more greenhouse gases than all the world’s transportation systems combined.” I personally believe it’s unrealistic for every single person to stop consuming https://www.peta.org/about-peta/faq/how-does-eating-meat-harm-the-environment/
meat, but I think as a whole everyone can reduce their consumption of it so there’s not as high of a demand. Try doing meatless Monday, or challenge yourself to not eating meat for a week. The same goes with fish. The seafood industry is harmful to the environment as well.
^^^^in the above article.
Meat substitutes:
1. Tofu
2. Jackfruit (I haven’t tried it but I heard it tastes JUST like meat)
3. Beans
4. Mushrooms
Meatless brands:
1. Gardein
2. Morningstar Farms
3. Beyond Meat
4. Impossible Foods
This is all I can think of off the top of my head right now so if I think of more I’ll add it to the thread or if anyone else has anything else to contribute just let me know. Also, a side note, these are things that I try to incorporate into my day to day life but also I’m not
perfect. Do I forget to bring reusable bags to the grocery store sometimes? Yes. Do I sometimes throw something away that could be recycled? Yes. Do I forget to water my plants from time to time? Yes. The point is I think when it comes to being sustainable no one is perfect.
Every little thing counts and I don’t think we should shame anyone for using a plastic water bottle or not bringing reusable bags to the store, or for eating meat. These are just little ways I thought I could inform people to help lessen our negative impact on the environment

Also this thread took me like an hour to write so I hope just one person takes one thing away from this 😭😂
