Every series with a male lead character and showrunner should now be called "male-centric." https://twitter.com/getFANDOM/status/1253057500850470912
I know that they probably threw out the phrase "female-centric" to head trolls off at the pass but (1) trolls are going to troll regardless because they need content for their AstroTurf "culture war" and (2) it sends the message that boys cannot identify with female adventurers.
And we all know that's bunk. I had no problem identifying with Niko Bellic and he is as far from a law-abiding American black woman as you can get. A good story with a solid lead pulls you in and keeps you invested--no matter the lead's inherent traits.
Calling a work "female-centric" others roughly half the population. There are slightly more women in the world than there are men! Our stories are the mainstream. Our stories are the norm. Woman isn't a subgenre.
