It’s #lesbianvisibilityweek! Thank you twitter because I didn’t know this existed. Shoutout to all you wonderful lesbian women especially black lesbians of all intersectionalities, and all the work you have done and still do to push the feminist movement forward!
Black lesbians experience erasure from the revisionist history of their revolutionary advocacy for women’s rights, to the misogynistic dismissal of their sexuality, even more so in our climes where the abuse of their human rights is lawfully sanctioned
Personally, I’m grateful to all the queer women on this platform who tireslessly educate, advocate, push, question, make us squirm, confront, question and re-orient. That demand that one digs deeper than experiences & heteronormative scenarios & push for intersectionality always.
This thread today was timely: https://twitter.com/asangelwassayin/status/1253060845732536327?s=21 https://twitter.com/asangelwassayin/status/1253060845732536327
A reminder that heteronormative women must see beyond our bullshit and uplift our queer sisters and advocate for them just as fiercely as they do for us; That fighting for womanhood goes beyond negotiating for fairer rights with men or elitist empowerment movements
But actual work that dismantles systems that disadvantages ALL women from all orientations, ages, income brackets, sexualities, etc. Its all of us or really none of us.
