I've been surfing the Mario wiki for a few weeks and now thanks to this game I've been questioning Mario lore
So as we all know, Yoshi made his first appearance in Super Mario World. In this game, he has no idea who Mario or Luigi are(which makes sense, since this is supposedly their first interaction).
However, in 1995, Yoshi would star in his own game, Yoshi's Island. In these games, the whole point of the series is to rescue Baby Luigi and help both him and Baby Mario find his parents.
This always confused me. Why doesn't Yoshi recognize Mario in Mario World, if they previously met in Yoshi's Island?
One obvious answer to this question would be that Mario is an infant in Yoshi's Island, so Yoshi couldn't recognize him. However, with a cap was distinguishable as Mario's, this is unlikely.
The other(and more likely) theory is that the Yoshi in Mario World(and all other Mario games), and the Yoshi the Yoshi games are different Yoshis.

Yoshi's Island DS happens to support this particular theory.
See, in Yoshi's Island DS, the game states that there are seven "star children", all of which posses an extraordinary amount of power.
The first six star children are revealed near the end of the credits and are Mario, Luigi, Peach, Wario, Donkey Kong, and Bowser.
However, the seventh star child is not mentioned until after these six are revealed. At the very end of the game, the final star child is shown to be a newly hatched Green Yoshi.
Due to the fact that this Yoshi is a star child and he is green, the game strongly implies that this Yoshi is the same Yoshi that would later adventure with Mario, and he is the Yoshi that we know in the Mario spinoffs. This explains why Yoshi doesn't look aged compared to Mario.
However, Yoshi's Island DS also raises a couple of questions.

For one, is the Yoshi in Smash the Yoshi from the Yoshi's Island games, or the one from the Mario games?
If it's the Yoshi from the Yoshi's Island games it would make a little sense, since it would explain why Mario doesn't recognize Yoshi in Subspace(maybe he can tell the differences between Yoshis? idk)
The OTHER(and more confusing) big question that Yoshi's Island DS raises isn't about Yoshi though. No, this one is about Mario and DK.
See, if it wasn't already obvious, the Donkey Kong in this game is based on the more modern Donkey Kong introduced in Donkey Kong Country.

The Donkey Kong in these games is portrayed as the original Donkey Kong's grandson.
This obviously means that since the original Donkey Kong(who is actually Cranky Kong) fought Mario, the new Donkey Kong is much younger than Mario, since Cranky Kong is nowhere as old as he is the arcade game as he is in the DKC games.
BUT WAIT!

Yoshi's Island DS proves that Baby Mario and Baby DK are around the same age. And since this Donkey Kong is actually the Modern Donkey Kong, this raises even more questions...
If the Donkey Kong in the arcade game really is Cranky Kong, then why does he look like the same age as Mario? Shouldn't he look much older than if Mario and DK are the same age?

And to make things even more confusing..
The game's sequel, Donkey Kong Jr, proves that Cranky Kong has a son. However, in this game, DK Jr is portrayed as a child, which implies that Donkey Kong hasn't been born.

Yet somehow Mario is still the same age.
The only possible explanations for these plot holes are that either Yoshi's Island DS is non canon(though I highly doubt it), or that Cranky Kong is simply lying to us.

Anyway, I spent a rough half hour on this thread so I really don't care. What are y'alls thoughts on this?
