The habitual presumption that whining about comms is only a reporter thing is getting debunked a few times a day in the Nova Scotia situation.
Imagine a proactive and transparent police force communications department that in addition to tweeting twice in 12 hours had started calling radio and TV stations.
The premise of the previous tweet strikes me as ludicrous. That's where we are now in the way police communications works in Canada.
It's not just police of course. The theory of lockdown and control is prevalent in most comms. We see it here in Quebec right now with long-term care homes. Except the story is so big and bad they can't fully control it. Which is what's happening to the RCMP.
