I've been thinking a lot today and the past few weeks about how @salesforce completely changed the course of my life. As many of you know I was a hairdresser before I got into the corporate world as a secretary. My plan at that point was to always go back to doing hair. 1/
If I hadn't been put on that 'Salesforce Project' so many years ago because I liked the internet I'd probably be out of a job right now. During this unprecedented time, I have a job and I've kept my salary and am able to pay bills and help some other folks along the way 2/
I felt that even more when I see so many of my friends I went to cosmetology school with out of work and struggling to make ends meet. I started thinking about how I can best help my friends. 3/
When I was in this thought process an alert popped up on my phone that @steph_herrera_ had sent me an email about @PepUPTech and their mission to help those who have lost their jobs learn technology. 4/
The light bulb went on, this was it. I drafted an email to a bunch of friends who I went to cosmetology school with and told them. Look at me. We went to school together. I'm now a VP at a Bank. If you want to do something else I know of a way you can learn technology. 5/
Yes, I'm going to help my friends if they need it with groceries/paying bills, but if any of them are interested in a career change I'm going to donate the cost of teaching them to @PepUPTech so my friends can learn @salesforce 6/
From @steph_herrera_ 's email to sponsor one student through the @PepUPTech cohort to completely change the trajectory of their life it's $333. For each one of my friends I went to cosmetology school with that shows an interest in learning salesforce, I will donate the amt. 7/
And here's my receipt for my first donation towards someone wonderful changing their career trajectory forever. I hope anyone who reads this will consider making a donation or sharing this fundraiser!
