As we remember the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, IDC aims to shed light on the other crimes that the Turkish government committed to the Christian communities of the region.
The Greek Genocide took the lives of an estimated 750,000 Greek Christians in Anatolia. These attacks did not aim to simply kill Christians, but to erase Christian heritage in Asia Minor.

The Assyrian Genocide, or Sayfo, saw the murder of 300,000 Assyrians in the regions now known as Iraq and Iran. This includes Arameans, Syriacs and Chaldeans.

In some provinces, nearly 97% of the Christian population was killed.

The Great Famine of Mount Lebanon took the lives of 200,000 Maronites. That is a 50% decrease of the population of the area.  

For three years, the Ottoman rulers blocked any food from entering the region.
